Cancer screening

Breast, bowel and cervical screening.

Pages in this menu are for information. See your physician for diagnosis and treatment. Call 112 in an emergency.
  • Breast: mammography every two years for women aged 40–69
  • Bowel: faecal occult blood every two years from 50 to 70
  • Cervix: HPV-DNA testing every five years from 30 to 65

Screening looks for disease before symptoms. Do not wait for a screening age if you have bleeding between periods, a lump, blood in the stool or unexplained weight loss.
